TLT (Tempeh Lettuce Tomato -- Aka Vegan BLT)

Ingredients

  • Tempeh (cheapest best one is from Trader Joe's)

  • Sourdough bread

  • Best Foods Vegan Mayo

  • Romaine Lettuce 

  • Tomato

  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce/Coconut Aminos

  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil

  • 1 tsp Paprika

  • ½ tsp Onion powder

  • ¼ tsp Salt

Directions

  1. Start by making your “bacon”.  You will need to preheat your oven to 350ºF while you thinly slice your tempeh.  Then create your marinade for the tempeh with 2 tbsp soy sauce or coconut aminos, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp paprika, ½ tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp salt.

  2. Mix the marinade together and let tempeh sit to soak up for about 15 mins. Flip tempeh halfway to coat both sides.

  3. Once your oven has preheated, lay out the tempeh on a baking sheet and cook for 15 mins. Then flip and cook for another 7-10 mins until crispy. 

  4. Prepare your sandwich by toasting the sourdough bread, spreading the mayo on both sides of the bread and layering on thin slices of tomato and lettuce.  Once the tempeh has finished cooking, add a couple slices to the sandwich and enjoy!
